What kind of pay do transcriptionists get?  Can I earn a living doing this?

Pay varies greatly in transcription in both amount and method of figuring payment.  Transcription work can be paid for by the byte, by the word, by the line, by the page, by the audio minute or by the audio hour.

How much you can earn will depend on how much you get paid for the work you are doing and how long it takes you to do the work.

Industry standard turnaround time (TAT) is generally considered to be 4:1, or four work hours to transcribe one hour of audio.  This can and does vary greatly depending on experience level, audio quality and type of work.

You can find quite a bit of pay information in the START HERE folder at www.transcriptionessentials.com/forum.
